Samsung and LG released new smartwatahces today with advanced functions and design to enhance their competitiveness in the ever-growing wearable device market.
Samsung launched their “Gear S” as their first standalone smartwatch. The Gear S will be able to make phone calls and supports built-in 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Users can now make and receive phone calls from the wrists. Of course, with this standalone smartwatch. Like their previous versions, the Gear S can receive notifications from social networks and run apps such as calendars and mini-games. The watch should be able to forward calls to their master smartphones. The Gear S is available in a curved design with a home button at the bottom of the display. The curved design is kind of the first in the industry.With regards the display, the curved 2-inch Super AMOLED display. The new smartwatch from Saumsung will be shipped in the October.
LG’s G Watch R has a classical wristwatch design with a 1.3-inch circular plastic OLED display that the company said comes with “stunning image clarity even under bright sunlight. The new LG smartwatch can withstand water about 30 minutes in a meter of water. This new smartwatch is going to be on shelf by Fourth Quarter this year(2014).
