Apple has been declining its reliance on Samsung as a component provider due to its ongoing legal disputes with Samsung. Apple did have mentioned that they would reduce over-reliance on the products of Samsung and procure parts and components from elsewhere. However, rumours purport that Apple is not honouring its pledge.

Apple is said to be in discussion with Samsung for a new batches of Retina Displays, which were currently supplied by LG and Sharp. The two providers seem to fall short of the enormous market demand for Apple products, resulting in Apple’s need for urgent backup from Samsung. Its CEO Tim Cook, mentioned earlier that they would not have enough stocks of iPad mini. Quoted as saying the expected failure to meet demand, Cook was thought to be implying that they don’t have enough Retina Display.
