According to THE VERGE, Microsoft started its research on smartwatch a year ago. The Xbox developing team is now working on tests of the prototype. Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Microsoft is now developing a touch screen smartwatch product. Microsoft ordered a batch of 1.5 inch screens for internal testings. THE VERGE says that the smartwatch is under development. One of the early prototypes indicate that the smartwatch is going to have a magnetic power dock MagSafe with 5-pins design, it could both charge and transmit data.
In 2004, Microsoft did announced a product called SPOT which could push paid application’s information to the watch, such as MSN, news and stock information. In 2008, Microsoft halted the production of this product.
Terry Myerson from Microsoft said on Tuesday that it would be an interesting and exciting news. Having said that wearable computers or device have great potential, Myerson still have no comments on the release date of the Microsoft Smartwatch.
A UK research firm ABI Research announced on Tuesday that they expect 1,200,000 smartwatch items to be sold this year.
