Good bye MSN messenger! Microsoft officially shuts down the Windows Live Messenger with effect from today

Today marks the last day of operation of the Windows Live Messenger. From 15/3/2013, the windows live messenger will be discontinued and replaced by Skype. Existing Messenger user can directly login with their credentials to the Skype and have access to the old accounts. If you try to access your older version of Windows Live Messenger you will get an error message and you will be directed to an installation page of the Skype.

Skype is famous of its VoIP service where people can make phone calls internationally via the Internet for free. Text messaging functions is also supported. However, group chat or group video chats can only be used if you subscribe Skype premium.
