Wikipedia Smartphone SMS

Wikipedia is often regarded as the aggregate of all human knowledge. If you ever want to learn anything about anything ever, it’s a great resource to at least start with, if not complete on.

While it has always been free on the internet and mobile, data plans are not free. Wikipedia has always been committed to bringing knowledge to as many people as possible, so in the near future they will be expanding their ease of access.

Reports state that the site will soon be accessible via SMS. Users will be able to send a term to a Wikipedia owned phone number, and the service will send a text message (or multiple messages) back with the content of the article.

This certainly does make Wikipedia more accessible to the rest of the world. It still remains to be seen how the service will handle huge articles but regardless, texting costs much less than data.

Good on you, Wiki!
