We previously reported on rumors that Apple was working on R&D for an “iWatch” device. Well rumors just took another step in to reality with a new patent discovery.
The new patent, filed by Apple, shows a watch device that goes around a users wrist and allows them to interact with an operating system. For more of the technical details, feel free to check out the actual patent filing.
This patent comes at around the same time as the Google Glass patents were discovered, so one must wonder if they are a coincidence. There were also rumors of a Google Smartwartch earlier. Is wearable computing the next big thing in tech? Patents aren’t always indicative of what the future holds, but it does show a heavy interest in wearable devices. I figure we’ll be seeing more as the year progresses.
