Samsung announced earlier this week that they would drop the cellular chipset in the galaxy camera and release a cheaper WiFi model to attract wider customer base. The Galaxy Camera (WiFi) was confirmed by Samsung this Tuesday.
The Galaxy Camera will have the same technical specification as the older model except the 3G chipset is pulled.
The camera features a 16.3 mega pixel sensor and 1/2.3″ BSI CMO intact, with the original 21x optical zoom, 23mm wide lens and a 4.8 inch AMOLED display.
The camera has a 1.4 GHz quad core processor running android 4.1 jelly bean.
Samsung hasn’t revealed the price and release date for the wifi only galaxy camera but we are sure that it will come out shortly.
Before this comes out we have a 3G / 4g version of the same galaxy camera. What people did was upload their photos taken to social networks like Facebook or twitter. But many find the cost for subscribing to cellular network and an additional SIM really cost a lot. And indeed, Sharing things to social network can be done at home, not to mention you can make your phones a wifi hotspot to provide the galaxy camera with cellular network. I don’t see a point needing the 3G functions on the camera yet.
Stay tuned if you want to know more about its release information later on.
