PS4 Update! X86, STREAMING, SOCIAL, AND MORE

PS4 Controller

Well the stream is taking a lul so I’ll post some of the more interesting things revealed at the event today.

  • PS4 is basically a mid range 2012 x86 gaming PC. Expect more games on PS4 than there were on PS3. This is why it’s so dev friendly too.
  • They basically wiped out used games and rental services with their “Gakai” streaming service. You can stream and play games AS YOU DOWNLOAD, you have trials of games, and you can stream games from your PS4 to your Vita and play them anywhere.
  • New dual shock controller rumors were right
  • Sony partnered with Ustream and Facebook to make an awesome gaming social network. Upload streams of you playing your game as you play. People can interact with you while you play.
  • Friends can interact with you in game while you play. Supports switching of players online. You dont even have to be in the same house to play games together anymore.
  • PS3 GAMES ARE NOT SUPPORTED. They say they are “Exploring options” to bring compatibility “someday”. Like with PS2 compatibility on the PS3? I call BS.

So those are some of the interesting points so far. We will post a full rundown after the event. In the meantime, follow us on twitter @MyPhoneDaily for up to date commentary
