We reported on the Ubuntu OS on Smartphone before that a Utbuntu-powered smartphone is set for launch in no earlier than October 2013. At the moment Ubuntu hasn’t disclosed any information on the hardware specification of their open source platform smartphone. However, Ubuntu really wants to be ahead of all the possible competitors including Android 5.0 which will be revealed by Google on their I/O announcement event in May 2013, so they make the Ubuntu for Android for testing purpose and Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview for developers. Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview includes the source code and development kit (SDK) for smartphone developers. The Ubuntu for Android can be installed on two Google devices – Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG Nexus 4.
Ubuntu simplifies development and stays true to rapid application development principles. The Quickly software they released is the development tool that they claim to be a very easy platform for developers.
