Ubuntu Phone Release Set For October?

ubuntu phone

The linux community and most other smartphone enthusiasts have been VERY excited about the prospect of Ubuntu Phone. Their excitement is going to have to wait a bit though because it was revealed today that the device will not launch until October.

Mark Shuttleworth, CEO of Ubuntu’s owner Canonical, has stated that the phone will launch in October in “Two very large geographic markets”. Great. Waiting until October was bad enough, but now we’re all wondering if we are included in that “large geographic market”. If not, there’s no telling when we’ll be able to get our hands on the devices.

The three biggest geographic phone markets are the US, Asia, and Europe. That covers the majority of users so everyone has a 2/3 chance of getting one. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully more info is given at MWC later this month.
