The Infobar phone project on Japanese carrier KDDI has always been a unique twist on the norms of the mobile phone industry. The phone designs have always been unique with a fresh twist on existing UI and UX elements. The new Infobar a02 phone, made by HTC, continues this trend.

The phone itself looks very fashionable with different colored plastics and unique button inclusions. The UI is what really sets this phone apart though. It’s like nothing else existing on the market in terms of Android phones. While this phone comes included with Android 4.1 JellyBean, The UI is designed from a new usability perspective. Everything is based on widget type tiles and gestures. The tile based UI and the three buttons at the bottom make this phone more reminiscent of Windows Phone than the traditional Android that exists out there today.

Unfortunately this seems to be a KDDI exclusive so it’s going to be difficult to get your hands on one outside of Japan. You can look but you Can’t touch. For more information, check out the video below.
